Total Compensation
- Salary : Salary range begins at $57,000

About the Position
Haverford College is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, anddetail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our team.Reporting directly to the Director of Talent Acquisition, Equity,and Belonging, this versatile role plays a critical part insupporting the lifecycle and well-being of our staff. The HRGeneralist will design and drive professional developmentinitiatives for staff and managers, champion employee wellness, andprovide essential administrative support for campus benefits andtalent acquisition operations.
This HR Generalist position is ideal for entry to mid-level HRprofessionals seeking an opportunity to apply their commitment toemployee growth and wellness, while also gaining more experienceacross the HR spectrum.
Primary Responsibilities
Professional Development & Learning (40%)
- Program Design & Delivery: Create, implement, and evaluatecomprehensive professional development and training programstailored for both staff and managers
- Managerial Training: Develop targeted resources and workshopsfor managers focusing on leadership, performance management, andbuilding inclusive team cultures
- Needs Assessment: Partner with department heads to identifyskill gaps and design continuous learning opportunities that alignwith the College's strategic goals
- Onboarding Integration: Collaborate with the Talent Acquisitionteam to ensure new hires smoothly transition from onboarding intoongoing professional development pathways
Benefits Administration & Wellness Support (40%)
- Employee Inquiries: Serve as a primary point of contact forfaculty and staff regarding day-to-day benefits / coveragequestions, providing clear, empathetic, and timely guidance; serveas primary point for benefits related problem-solving matters
- Billing & Reconciliation: Assist the Director of BenefitsAdministration with monthly benefits billing, data auditing, andfinancial reconciliation
- Wellness Programming: Plan, coordinate, and execute campus-widewellness initiatives, campaigns, and events (e.g., wellness fairs,mental health workshops, fitness challenges) to promote a holisticculture of well-being
- New Hire Benefit orientations: Schedule and perform new hirebenefit orientations
- Audit Support: Assist the Director of Benefits with annualaudit support for two benefit plans
- Broker Support & WGB: Assist the Director of Benefits withcoordinating meetings and data discussions with our currentBenefits Broker / Consultant and with the Working Group onBenefits
General HR Support (20%)
- Peak-Period Back-up: Serve as the primary backup to the HRSpecialist during high-volume hiring seasons
- Background Screening: Initiate, track, and review backgroundchecks and clearances, ensuring strict compliance with collegepolicies and federal/state regulations
- Hiring Compliance: Maintain a high level of confidentiality andaccuracy while handling sensitive candidate data
- Perform special projects and related responsibilities asinitiated/requested and provide cross-coverage for potential HRfunctions as needed
Line of Report
The Human Resources Generalist reports tothe Director of Talent Acquisition, Equity, and Belonging, withshared responsibilities overseen by the Director of BenefitsAdministration. The HRG does not have any direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
One of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,Organizational Development, or a related field, and 2 years ofprogressive HR experience, OR
- 6 years of progressive HR experience
Professional Competencies
- Specialized Knowledge: Proven experience designing andfacilitating training or professional development modules
- Familiarity with employee benefits programs and experience withfinancial billing/reconciliation
- Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills,with the ability to present confidently and effectively to diverseaudiences
- Strong analytical skills, and data aptitude and proficiencywith HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, Banner) and Excel
- High level of emotional intelligence and discretion, and aproven ability to handle confidential information with care
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR)
- Experience with Workday HCM and Workday Learning
- HR experience working in higher education or non-profitenvironments
- Competency with employment benefits
