Job summary

Benchmark Human Services is seeking an on-site HR Generalist for our Fort Wayne, IN office. The role requires a positive, organized individual capable of multitasking and leading HR initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

The position includes onboarding, compliance with HR regulations, and support for compensation, benefits, and leave programs. Candidates should have 2+ years in HR and a related degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred.
• At least 2 years of HR experience.
• Basic understanding of labor law.
• HRIS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non‑mandatory training.
• Provide onboarding management.
• Ensure compliance to all HR regulations and responsibilities.
• Facilitates hiring of qualified applicants with department managers.
• Performs routine HR tasks including compensation, benefits, and leave.

Benchmark is looking for an on‑site Human Resources (HR) Generalist for our Fort Wayne, IN office. This full‑time position requires a positive person who demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to multitask multiple responsibilities at once.

Requirements

• Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non‑mandatory training. This may include safety training, anti‑harassment training, and professional licensure.
• Provide on‑boarding management.
• Ensure compliance to all HR regulations and responsibilities.
• Ability to multi‑task and adapt in fast‑paced environment.
• Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
• Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
• Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; workers compensation; employee disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
• Submits invoices for vendor payment.
• Handles employment‑related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Has strong decision‑making skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field is preferred.
• Human Service background preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience working in HR.
• Basic understanding of labor law.
• HRIS experience preferred.

Salary: $44,000 - $46,000/year
