LHH is assisting a manufacturing client near Effingham, IL, in hiring an HR & Safety Generalist. The role emphasizes visible plant-floor presence, building strong relationships with employees and supervisors, and supporting HR in a union manufacturing environment.

The position balances HR administration, recruiting, employee relations, attendance tracking, HRIS (UKG) administration, safety initiatives, OSHA compliance, audits, and workers’ compensation activities across shifts.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of HR Generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Employee relations experience.
• Experience supporting safety programs and compliance initiatives preferred.
• Union experience is highly desirable.
• HRIS experience required (UKG experience is a plus but not required).

Responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day HR operations in a 24/5 manufacturing facility
• Partner with leaders, employees, and union representatives
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, attendance, and HRIS administration
• Coordinate safety initiatives, OSHA compliance, training, audits, and workers' compensation activities
• Support corrective actions, investigations, and policy administration
• Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and build rapport with employees across shifts

I'm partnering with a manufacturing client in near Effingham, IL that is seeking an HR & Safety Generalist to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being visible on the plant floor, building strong relationships with employees and supervisors, and making an impact in a union manufacturing environment. The facility is fast‑paced and requires someone who can balance employee relations, HR administration, recruiting, safety initiatives, and compliance activities.

What You'll Be Doing:
