Job summary

The Newtimes Group of Companies is seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR needs including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, attendance, performance management, and compliance with employment laws.

About the Role

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day human resources needs of the organization and serves as a primary point of contact for employees and managers. This role handles a broad range of HR responsibilities, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, attendance, performance management, policy guidance, training, and compliance with employment laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruiting activities, including posting positions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
• Manage the onboarding process and ensure new employees complete all required paperwork, orientation, and training
• Respond to employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, payroll, attendance, leave, and other HR matters
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
• Support managers with performance reviews, coaching, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation
• Assist with employee-relations concerns, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution
• Administer employee benefits, leave requests, workers’ compensation documentation, and related programs
• Monitor attendance and help ensure company policies are applied consistently
• Coordinate employee training, development, and workplace-safety documentation
• Assist with payroll-related updates and verify employee information when needed
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
• Prepare HR reports and identify workplace trends or areas requiring management attention
• Support employee engagement and retention initiatives
• Perform other HR-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Previous experience in a human resources or employee-support role
• Working knowledge of employment practices and applicable labor laws
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems

Preferred Qualifications

• HR experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar operation
• Experience with recruiting, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, workers’ compensation, and safety documentation
• SHRM-CP, PHR, or comparable HR certification

This position requires regular interaction with employees in both office and warehouse environments. The HR Generalist should be comfortable working with employees at all levels of the organization and responding promptly to workplace needs.
