Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and people-focused HR Generalist to support the day-to-day human resources operations of our organization. The HR Generalist will serve as a resource for employees and managers while supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, performance management, and HR recordkeeping.
The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. This individual should be comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and partnering with leadership to support a positive and productive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Operations
- Manage and support daily HR activities and employee inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files and HR records.
- Update employee information in HRIS and other HR systems.
- Prepare HR documents, reports, correspondence, and employee communications.
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and forms.
- Assist with HR projects and process-improvement initiatives.
Recruitment & Hiring
- Coordinate the recruitment and hiring process from job posting through onboarding.
- Prepare and maintain job descriptions and job postings.
- Review applications and assist with candidate screening.
- Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
- Conduct or coordinate background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements.
- Prepare offer letters and new-hire documentation.
- Maintain recruiting records and applicant information.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate new employee onboarding and orientation.
- Ensure completion of employment paperwork and required documentation.
- Coordinate employee training and required certifications.
- Conduct or assist with employee exit processes and exit interviews.
- Process employee separations and ensure company property and access are properly addressed.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding workplace policies, procedures, and HR-related questions.
- Assist managers with employee relations matters, performance concerns, and workplace issues.
- Help investigate employee complaints and workplace concerns in a fair and professional manner.
- Promote positive employee engagement and a respectful workplace culture.
- Maintain appropriate documentation regarding employee relations matters.
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Assist employees with questions regarding benefits, eligibility, enrollment, and changes.
- Coordinate benefits enrollment and employee benefit documentation.
- Work with payroll personnel or payroll providers to ensure accurate employee information.
- Assist with timekeeping, attendance, and payroll-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records related to compensation, benefits, and employee status changes.
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain required employment records and documentation.
- Assist with compliance reporting and audits.
- Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees and managers.
- Monitor required employee certifications, licenses, and training.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
Performance Management & Training
- Assist with employee performance review processes.
- Track performance evaluations and required documentation.
- Support employee development and training initiatives.
- Coordinate internal training programs and professional development activities.
- Assist managers with performance-management documentation and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in human resources or a related administrative role preferred.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of employment practices, HR policies, and workplace regulations.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
