Rio Tinto's U.S. Borax unit in Chicago is seeking an experienced HR Generalist who will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and collaborate across the global organization.

This hybrid role is based in the Aon Center and requires 2 days per week in the office to support teams across the US, Canada, India, China, Singapore and other locations. You will partner with Sales & Marketing leadership on performance, compensation and employee matters, using data-driven insights to inform decisions

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist / HR Advisor experience
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
• Experience supporting employees and leaders across multiple countries or regions
• Coaching, performance management and business partnering experience
• Experience with compensation discussions and HR/business data
• Strong communication skills and confidence partnering with senior leaders

Are you an experienced HR Generalist looking to become a true advisor to senior leaders while gaining exposure across a global organization? U.S. Borax, part of the multi-billion-dollar Rio Tinto group, is undergoing a major transformation as it carves out to become a standalone global organization!

As part of this transition, U.S. Borax is building the people, systems and processes required to operate independently, creating an exciting opportunity to join at the beginning of the journey and help shape its future HR function.

Based in the Aon Center in downtown Chicago (60601), this is a hybrid role with just 2 days per week in the office, supporting teams across the US, Canada, India, China, Singapore and other international locations.

As the HR Generalist, you will primarily partner with the Sales & Marketing organization and work directly with senior leaders including the Sales Director and Finance Director. This is a genuine HR advisory role covering coaching, performance, compensation, employee matters and data-driven decision-making, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the organization grows.

As the HR Generalist, your responsibilities will include:

The successful HR Generalist will have the following experience & qualifications:

• 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist / HR Advisor experience
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field and/or equivalent experience
• Experience supporting employees and leaders across multiple countries or regions
• Strong coaching, performance management and business partnering experience
• Experience with compensation discussions and HR/business data
• Strong communication skills and confidence partnering with senior leaders
• A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to take ownership
• Sales & Marketing HR experience would be advantageous
• Manufacturing or industrial experience would be preferred
• HR certification is preferred but not essential

• $100,000-$120,000 base salary
• 10% annual bonus
• 20 days PTO
