Qualifications

  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employees.
  • Knowledge of employee relations, performance management, recruiting, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and employment practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor on employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • Coach and support leaders on performance, accountability, employee engagement, retention, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with investigations, attendance, workplace conflicts, and policy matters with proper documentation.
  • Partner with recruiters and hiring managers on talent acquisition and onboarding for new employees.
  • Partner with HR Shared Services to ensure accurate HRIS transactions and employee records.
  • Travel between the Mentor, OH and Akron, OH facilities; hybrid work arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.

Job description

The HR Generalist serves as a strategic and hands‑on HR partner to leaders and employees within a fast‑paced medical device manufacturing organization.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position provides broad HR support across the employee lifecycle while partnering with business leaders to address workforce needs, employee relations, talent, performance, and organizational effectiveness.

This role is expected to partner closely with the Director of Human Resources while bringing sound HR judgment and practical solutions to day‑to‑day business challenges. Complex or high‑risk employee relations, compliance, or business matters will be escalated to the Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder who can effectively balance employee advocacy, business objectives, and compliance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a trusted HR advisor on employee relations, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and consistent application of HR policies and practices; escape complex or high‑risk matters to the Director of Human Resources.
  • Serve as an accessible resource to all employees, responding to questions and providing timely guidance on HR policies, processes, and programs.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to coach and support leaders on performance, accountability, employee engagement, retention, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Support the Director of Human Resources on employee relations activities, including investigations, performance concerns, attendance, workplace conflicts, and policy matters, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-through.
  • Partner with recruiters and hiring managers on talent acquisition and ensure an effective, engaging, and consistent onboarding experience for new employees.
  • Partner with HR Shared Services to ensure accurate HRIS transactions, employee records, benefits administration, leave and accommodation processes, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to address staffing, attendance, retention, productivity, and other workforce challenges.
  • Support workers' compensation, workplace injury, and employment compliance activities while maintaining current knowledge of applicable HR practices and regulations.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with organizational development, policy development, process improvement, employee engagement initiatives, and other strategic HR priorities.
  • Travel between the Mentor, OH and Akron, OH facilities as needed. Hybrid work arrangements will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis based on business needs and role requirements.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Knowledge of employee relations, performance management, recruiting, compensation, benefits, HRIS, and employment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to support day‑to‑day HR activities and effectively balance operational responsibilities with broader HR priorities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and partner with leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and effectively manage sensitive employee matters.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel between the Mentor, OH and Akron, OH facilities on a weekly basis.
