Description

The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies in the United States and globally that play a critical role in supplying recycled materials to manufacturing industries. ReMA promotes safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through education, networking, and advocacy

The Human Resources & Facilities Manager serves as a strategic operational partner to the Vice President, Human Resources and provides day-to-day leadership for key human resources, workplace operations, and facilities functions. The position exercises independent judgment in administering HR programs, managing employee relations matters, coordinating organizational initiatives, and supporting business continuity.

The Manager serves as a trusted resource to employees and managers across the organization and may represent the Human Resources function in the Vice President's absence.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
  • Partners with the Vice President, Human Resources to support recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation initiatives, and employee development programs.
  • Administers and coordinates employee development, engagement, recognition, performance management, and talent development initiatives designed to strengthen organizational effectiveness and employee retention.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate communications, interview scheduling, reference checks, and hiring logistics.
  • Maintains personnel records, HR systems, and confidential employee information while assisting with benefits administration and employee inquiries.
  • Prepares HR reports and workforce metrics while supporting employee engagement initiatives, compensation analysis, policy updates, and other HR projects.
  • Monitors HR processes and practices to support compliance with employment laws, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Serves as a primary resource to managers regarding employee relations, performance concerns, workplace issues, policy interpretation, and employment practices, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
Facilities & Office Operations
  • Oversees day-to-day facilities operations, serving as the primary liaison with building management and coordinating maintenance requests, office improvements, workspace modifications, and facility-related projects.
  • Manages relationships with vendors providing office services, equipment maintenance, cleaning, security, shipping, storage, and other operational support.
  • Evaluates vendor performance, negotiates service agreements, and manages contracts related to facilities, office services, equipment, and workplace operations.
  • Provides oversight of shipping, receiving, and mailroom operations to ensure efficient processing and delivery of organizational materials.
  • Oversees office equipment contracts and service relationships, ensuring office systems remain operational and support staff needs.
  • Coordinates office space planning, employee workspaces, workplace access procedures, and security protocols.
  • Supports emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, workplace safety initiatives, and emergency response procedures.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provides guidance to administrative staff, develops and maintains standard operating procedures, identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and employee experience, and partners with departments throughout the organization to support workplace and organizational initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and five or more years of comparable experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
  • Experience in an association, nonprofit, or member-driven organization preferred.
Working Conditions
  • The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000 per year.
  • Hybrid work environment based in the Washington, DC. This role will be in office three days per week.
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies, packages, or materials up to 20 pounds.
  • Some after-hours availability may be required to address urgent facilities or operational issues.
