Job summary

Pressley Ridge in Dallas seeks an experienced HR Director to lead the organization’s human resource function and drive talent strategy aligned with its mission and values. Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the employee life cycle including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations/performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, leaves of absences, workers’ compensation, and unemployment.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with employees, management and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintains job descriptions, employee handbooks, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Monitors HR performance data/indicators and uses data to inform strategies.
  • Monitors employee satisfaction and retention through data analysis, surveys and focus groups; makes recommendations.
  • Implements efforts to hire a diverse workforce and ensure inclusivity across the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversees unemployment compensation processes and personnel files; maintains documentation.
  • Supervises staff and responsibilities including hiring, disciplinary actions and staffing.

Education

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or equivalent
Master's degree preferred
SPHR/PHR certification preferred
5+ years in Human Resources with supervisory experience

Job description

The Human Resources (HR) Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the organization’s human resource function. The primary goal is to ensure that the organization attracts, retains, and develops a highly qualified and diverse workforce that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values, and to manage all aspects of the employee life cycle. The HR Director will work closely with senior management and other department heads to develop and implement HR policies and practices that support the organization's strategic objectives. The Human Resources Director plays a critical role in creating a positive work environment, promoting diversity and inclusion, and ensuring the organization's success. The ideal candidate should possess excellent leadership and communication skills, strong HR knowledge and experience, and a deep commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities
  • Support/Service Delivery
    • In conjunction with others, manages and oversees all aspects of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations/performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, leaves of absences, workers’ compensation, and unemployment.
    • Develops and maintains positive relationships with employees, management, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration across the organization.
    • In collaboration with others, maintains job descriptions, employee handbooks, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Maintains HR performance data/indicators, produce reports, and uses data/information to inform efforts and strategies.
    • Monitors employee satisfaction and retention through data analysis, surveys and focus groups and make recommendations on future strategies.
    • Implements efforts to hire a diverse workforce and to ensure inclusivity of employees from a wide variety of backgrounds in all aspects of organizational life.
  • Risk
    • Monitors and oversees the employee discipline process to ensure practices are consistent with internal policy/procedures and abides by applicable employment law and regulations; intervenes directly in cases involving suspension and termination and assists in employee coaching and counseling sessions. Escalates matters prior to termination, and collaborates on any employee terminations..
    • Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Documentation
    • Oversees management of the unemployment compensation process, including completion of all required forms, filing of appeals as necessary, and representing Pressley Ridge at hearings.
    • Oversees required documentation, record keeping and personnel files.
  • Supervision
    • Receives supervision.
    • Receives supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
    • Provides supervision.
    • Supervises staff and directly supervises personnel actions including action plans, hiring, terminations, recruitment, vacation and sick day requests. Ensures that program staffing is qualified.
Qualifications
  • Education/Credentials/Licensure:
    • Requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university; master’s degree preferred.
    • SPHR/SCP or PHR/CP certification preferred.
    • Requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • Experience:
    • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources; supervisory experience required.
    • Requires strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
    • Requires ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Prior experience working within a human services children and families service industry preferred.
    • Requires knowledge of federal and state employment law and regulations.
    • Requires the ability to travel, both locally by car and nationally by air, as needed to attend meetings, trainings, conferences and events.

Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands
    • This position requires operating a keypad device 75% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Travel is required approximately five (5) times per month but can vary and works in weather conditions about 25% of the day. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. Walking is required 10% of the day. Standing occurs 10% of the day. Sitting happens 80% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 10% of the day. This function routinely lifts 25 pounds, four (4) times per day. The maximum lift is 50 pounds, one (1) time per day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Mental Demands
    • Frequently performs multiple tasks.
    • Occasionally makes quick decisions.
    • Continually needs to concentrate, handle distractions, and a diversity of problems.
  • Environmental factors require this position offices and various Pressley Ridge locations/ program inclusive of schools and residential settings.
  • Travel, including driving and flying, local and overnight, to various programs/ regions is expected on an as-needed basis to fulfill the duties/ responsibilities of the position.
  • Working Hours
    • Traditional office hours with flexibility to meet department and employee/ program needs.
