Job description

THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
  • A fast-growing, multi-site service business with a largely hourly employee population across several operating markets.
  • An entrepreneurial, field-oriented organization with a strong focus on store-level execution, customer experience, and operational consistency.
WHAT THEY OFFER YOU
  • The opportunity to serve as the first dedicated HR leader and build the people function from the ground up.
  • High visibility with executive leadership and the ability to directly influence how HR scales across the organization.
  • A role that blends strategy, systems, process-building, and hands-on execution rather than operating within a narrow HR lane.
  • Strong growth potential as the business continues to expand and the HR function matures.
  • The opportunity to support field operations, store teams, accounting, and leadership during an important stage of growth and integration.
LOCATION
  • Hybrid flexibility in Charlotte, NC, with an expectation of approximately 4 days in the office depending on business needs.
  • Some initial travel to operating locations may be helpful early on, but ongoing travel is not expected to be significant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Help evaluate, select, and implement a unified HRIS platform while creating the foundation to bring two legacy businesses onto one operating system.
  • Harmonize employee handbooks, policies, PTO practices, benefits programs, payroll processes, employee files, and related HR procedures.
  • Partner closely with accounting and operations to support payroll coordination, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, employee documentation, and HR reporting.
  • Support field leaders with employee relations, investigations, performance management, workers’ compensation, documentation, and practical compliance needs.
  • Build scalable HR processes that support a high-volume, multi-site hourly workforce and position the organization for continued growth.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
  • Hands-on HR experience within a multi-site business environment supporting hourly employee populations.
  • Background in service-based, field-based, retail, hospitality, or other high-volume operational environments is highly preferred.
  • Experience across core HR operations, including payroll processing, benefits administration, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, workers’ compensation, and policy administration.
  • Ability to operate as a department of one in the near term while building greater structure, consistency, and process across the business.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with accounting, operations, and executive leadership in a practical, business-minded way.
