We are seeking a hands-on Human Resources Coordinator / Generalist to support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, scheduling, training, compliance, and day-to-day administrative operations for a growing agricultural business. This is not a traditional corporate HR role. The position works closely with ownership, managers, team leaders, and employees in a casual, rustic, nontraditional farm-office environment.

The ideal candidate balances care and compassion for people with the practical, day-to-day needs of operating an agricultural business. This person should enjoy working with people, staying organized, solving problems, and helping a business run smoothly.

For the right candidate, there is a potential advancement pathway toward an Operations Manager position.

Schedule
  • Approximately 40–45 hours per week
  • Primarily Monday–Friday
  • Must be available for daily on-site morning meetings beginning between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m.
  • Typical start time is approximately 7:00–7:30 a.m., with seasonal variation
  • Some days may end earlier or later depending on interviews, staffing needs, and operational requirements
  • Occasional Saturdays, evenings, or special events may be required
  • Occasional communication outside traditional office hours may be necessary due to the nature of agriculture and workforce management
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting & Hiring
  • Develop and post job descriptions on the company website, Indeed, and social media
  • Review applications and track candidates throughout the hiring process
  • Conduct initial screening calls and interviews
  • Coordinate and participate in in-person interviews with management
  • Conduct reference checks and coordinate background screenings
  • Prepare new-hire paperwork
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation
  • Maintain accurate hiring records and applicant communications
Human Resources & Employee Support
  • Serve as a resource for managers and employees regarding workplace concerns
  • Help resolve interpersonal conflicts and de-escalate complaints
  • Support consistent implementation of company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate employee training, performance reviews, feedback, and follow-up
  • Track pay-rate increases, reviews, and required personnel documentation
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files
  • Help identify opportunities for employee development, training, and retention
  • Support a positive workplace culture built on communication, cooperation, and mutual respect
Scheduling & Workforce Coordination
  • Maintain staff calendars and scheduling dashboards
  • Track time-off requests, birthdays, anniversaries, and schedule changes
  • Help ensure critical shifts are properly staffed
  • Coordinate with managers to maintain staffing for farmers markets and other operations
  • Track employee hours and follow up on missing or inaccurate time entries
  • Verify weekly hours in preparation for payroll
  • Prepare reports related to overtime, call-outs, tardiness, and labor costs
  • Use Google Sheets and other systems to coordinate daily and weekly workforce goals
H-2A & Regulatory Support
  • Maintain awareness of applicable employment, workers' compensation, minimum-wage, and H-2A requirements
  • Assist with H-2A seasonal worker applications and required documentation
  • Help coordinate travel arrangements and reimbursement documentation
  • Occasionally assist with transportation or translation needs for H-2A employees
  • Help maintain accurate records and support compliance with applicable regulations
Training & Operations
  • Conduct new-employee orientation and food-safety training
  • Coordinate required training and ServSafe testing as applicable
  • Help ensure employees receive the training needed to perform their roles successfully
  • Participate in onboarding throughout the farm, including field production, packing, distribution, and farmers-market operations
  • Participate in farmers markets and learn the various functions of the business
  • Develop an understanding of the entire operation so you can effectively support employees and managers
  • Coordinate employee gatherings and workforce-development opportunities
General Administration
