The Human Resources Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department by serving as a key point of contact for colleagues. This is an entry-level HR opportunity for someone who is highly organized, approachable, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in Human Resources within luxury hospitality.
This position will provide hands-on support across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, employee engagement, and general HR administration. The role will work closely with the Food & Beverage and Spa teams. This position requires strong organization, discretion and communication skills to handle the priorities of the day-to-day operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support recruitment for hourly and management positions, including job postings, interview scheduling, and offer coordination.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements and new-hire documentation.
- Support and participate in new-hire orientation and onboarding.
- Maintain accurate employee information within HR and payroll systems.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Serve as an approachable first point of contact for employees with general HR questions.
- Support employee recognition, engagement activities, celebrations, and other culture initiatives.
- Handle employee and company information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Maintain inventory of colleague uniforms and place uniform orders as necessary.
- Maintain locker rooms by monitoring supplies and ordering as necessary.
HR Administration
- Maintain employee personnel files and required documentation.
- Process employee changes including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
- Track attendance, leaves, required certifications, training, and other employee documentation.
- Prepare HR reports and assist with maintaining accurate employee data.
Compliance
- Support compliance with company policies and applicable New York City, New York State, and federal employment requirements.
- Assist with workers’ compensation, leave administration, workplace safety, and related HR processes.
- Help ensure required workplace notices and documentation remain current.
Operational Partnership
- Develop strong working relationships with restaurant leadership and team members.
- Support HR needs across various food & beverage outlets and the spa.
- Work effectively within a luxury hospitality environment where professionalism, discretion, service, and attention to detail are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Human Resources, recruiting, administrative, or related experience in a luxury hotel environment, restaurant, or similar hospitality setting preferred.
- Positive, engaging, and energetic personality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to be organized, manage time wisely, to work independently and with a team.
- Sensitive to cultural nuances and able to maintain a high level of discretion.
- Professional, approachable, and comfortable interacting with employees at all levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal in English; Multi-lingual is a plus.
- Able to handle a multitude of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance as per company policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and web platforms.
