Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, or similar environments.
  • Experience administering payroll and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, payroll practices, and HR operations.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic advisor and operational leader, partnering with business leaders to align people strategies with Extreme Steel Inc.'s business objectives. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role supports fabrication, field operations, and corporate teams by driving employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and HR compliance.

In addition to serving as a trusted HR business partner, this position is the primary HR owner of payroll administration and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). The HRBP ensures payroll is processed accurately and on time in partnership with Finance while maintaining the integrity, functionality, and optimization of all HRIS platforms and employee data.

Strategic HR Partnership
  • Partner with leaders to develop workforce strategies that support operational and organizational goals.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, leadership development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Analyze workforce trends and HR metrics to recommend improvements in retention, engagement, productivity, and organizational performance.
  • Support change management initiatives and organizational growth.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations matters, conducting investigations and resolving workplace concerns in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Advise leaders on performance management, corrective actions, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Payroll Administration
  • Serve as the primary HR owner for the company's payroll process, partnering closely with Finance and Payroll to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Review employee data changes, earnings, deductions, timekeeping, and approvals to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll-related employee records and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
  • Continuously evaluate payroll processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
HRIS Administration
  • Act as the primary HR administrator for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Ensure employee data integrity, system functionality, security, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Configure and maintain organizational structures, workflows, security roles, employee records, and system updates.
  • Partner with system vendors and IT to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and coordinate upgrades.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and workforce analytics to support business decision-making.
  • Train managers and employees on HRIS functionality and self-service tools.
Talent Management
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring strategies for skilled trades, manufacturing, construction, and corporate positions.
  • Coordinate onboarding and employee integration activities.
  • Support leadership development, career planning, and succession initiatives.
  • Facilitate the annual performance review process and ongoing performance conversations.
Compliance & HR Operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and communicate HR policies and procedures.
  • Support internal audits, reporting requirements, and documentation.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and HR documentation.
  • Participate in benefit administration and annual open enrollment activities.
Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, communication, recognition, and retention.
  • Support company-wide HR programs that reinforce Extreme Steel's mission, vision, and values.
  • Partner with leaders to identify opportunities for improving the employee experience.
Safety Partnership
  • Collaborate with Operations and Safety leadership to reinforce a culture of workplace safety.
  • Support workers' compensation administration, return-to-work programs, and OSHA-related employee documentation.
  • Promote HR practices that align with the company's commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Benefits Administration
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employee benefits administration, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs.
  • Administer employee enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, and benefit eligibility in accordance with plan requirements.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment, including employee communications, system configuration, education sessions, and enrollment support.
  • Partner with benefit brokers and vendors to resolve employee benefit issues and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices and coordinate with Payroll to ensure accurate deductions and compliance with plan requirements.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records within the HRIS and ensure timely processing of employee changes.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and other federal and state requirements.
  • Develop and communicate benefit resources that enhance employee understanding and utilization of available programs.
  • Analyze benefits utilization and provide recommendations to the Vice President of Human Resources for program improvements and cost management.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience supporting business leaders in a manufacturing, construction, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience administering payroll and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, employee relations, payroll practices, and HR operations.
  • Experience with HRIS administration, reporting, and data management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations.
  • Experience with benefits administration, payroll systems, HRIS implementation, or system optimization projects.
