Position Summary
The HR Generalist coordinates the needs and objectives of the business segment with those of its employees by assisting the Sr. HR Manager in planning, recommending, implementing, and administering personnel policies, practices, and programs. This role is designed to attract and maintain skilled and motivated staff to meet corporate goals and business interests. The HR Generalist provides counsel, services, and assistance to departments and management to help them effectively execute their personnel and employee relations responsibilities.
Essential Functions
- Partner with site leadership to administer personnel policies and practices, providing guidance on their interpretation and application.
- Assist senior management in organizational development, job structuring, job descriptions, reporting procedures, and communications.
- Recruit, interview, screen, and refer applicants for positions; conduct orientation programs for new employees; analyze turnover and recommend retention strategies.
- Participate in determining and projecting staffing requirements, sourcing qualified personnel, and identifying training and development needs.
- Act as a consultant for training and development programs, arranging or conducting them as required.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and management; conduct investigations, recommend corrective actions, and assist management in constructive communication and disciplinary processes.
- Interact regularly with all shifts and departments.
- Develop and administer wage and salary programs, including job analysis, job descriptions, and job evaluations, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation programs.
- Support the annual performance review process to ensure timely completion and identify future growth potential, aiding the corporate succession planning process.
- Assist with employee relations policies designed to maintain a union-free environment, analyzing practices and recommending necessary changes.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws regarding wages, hours, benefits, and equal employment opportunities; consult with legal counsel as needed.
- Maintain employee personnel records, retention, and access systems.
- Administer the corporate drug program, including pre-employment, random, and post-accident screenings as applicable.
- Promote and enforce safety policies, ensuring the use of PPE and advancing the site's safety culture.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources preferred.
- Certification is a plus.
- 2+ years of HR generalist experience required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across all employee levels.
- Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing plant setting and walking the production floor regularly.
Working Conditions
- Primarily sedentary work in an office setting.
- Utilizes office equipment such as computers, copiers, and calculators.
- Occasionally walks the production floor as needed.
