- This position is designed and intended to be performed in Columbus, MS, and reports to the Director of HR Business Partners at the corporate level.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cultivate strong connections with the leadership teams to establish credibility and influence within the organization while upholding the KENT Core Values of Honesty, Quality, Safety, Timeliness, Work for the Win-Win and Curiosity.
- Oversee employee relations matters and conduct investigations within partner groups, seeking guidance from legal counsel as necessary, and escalating through appropriate channels.
- Coordinate and present training for with emphasis in leadership, team building, performance management and coaching.
- Play a key role in talent acquisition by assisting with recruitment, interviews, and selection processes for both salary and hourly positions, as well as contributing to college recruiting endeavors.
- Collaborate with leaders to ensure a positive onboarding experience for new hires, aiming to enhance employee retention.
- Conduct exit interviews to discern recurring themes or conditions that may impact retention and offer recommendations for impactful change.
- Act as a resource for employees, actively listening to their concerns and offering solutions and assistance.
- Contribute to the annual review and performance evaluation process, including salary and wage administration.
- Assist employees in understanding and navigating benefit communications and administration, covering areas such as disability, workers compensation, FMLA, and other leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with all relevant processes, procedures, and laws.
- Participate in and contribute to HR communications initiatives, providing input on suitable communications.
- Foster proactive collaboration with HR team members, sharing best practices and offering assistance as needed.
- Stay vigilant to changes in state and federal rules or regulations affecting the many states we operate determining the best compliance actions accordingly.
- Lead by example promoting a positive culture and adherence to the highest ethical standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a minimum requirement (advanced degree preferred but not required).
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in Human Resources is necessary, with a focus on employee relations and a demonstrated career progression in HR.
- Experience in Human Resources in a manufacturing environment preferred.
TRAVEL:
- This role requires minimal travel for conferences and trips to corporate headquarters in Muscatine, Iowa for meetings and training.
