Job summary

Homer Electric Association in Homer, Alaska is seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team. This role touches all HR areas including retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll and training, with onsite work and reporting to the HR & Administrative Services Manager.

You will support data gathering, file maintenance, document preparation, and backup for the HR Generalist, contributing to confidential, efficient HR operations in a cooperative environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; in lieu of the degree requirement, an additional four years of applicable experience may replace the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of three years of human resources or related administrative experience, with demonstrated responsibility for supporting multiple HR functions. Experience in a shared services or regulated environment preferred.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Research, gather, organize and prepare historical, compliance related and regulatory data as assigned.
  • Coordinate scheduling interviews, in-state or out-of-state travel coordination, training events and meeting arrangements. Maintain a schedule on a computer calendar and take notes at various meetings as assigned.
  • Assist employees with updating employment documents as may be required for the processing of employment file or payroll data changes.
  • Maintain department records and filing systems for both physical and electronic files. May require extended periods of filing and data entry.
  • Prepare professional-level documents and presentations for HR functions and training.
  • Provide primary backup and support for the HR Generalist when absent or as otherwise required for the completion of the department's duties. Provides support to the HR & Administrative Services Manager as requested and acts as secondary backup in the absence of the HR & Administrative Services Manager and the HR Generalist.

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska!
