Job summary

Homer Electric Association, Homer, Alaska, seeks a Human Resources Associate to support retirement, benefits, payroll data, reporting, and training. This onsite role touches every HR function and reports to the HR & Administrative Services Manager.

The position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and coordination with internal staff and external agencies. A background in HR and at least three years of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with emphasis in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or 4 extra years of experience in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum of three years of HR or related administrative experience, supporting multiple HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Research historical, compliance, and regulatory data.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling and travel arrangements; maintain calendars.
  • Assist employees with updating employment documents for payroll and records.
  • Maintain HR records and filing systems; data entry as needed.
  • Prepare professional HR documents and presentations.
  • Provide backup support to the HR Generalist and HR Manager.

Type of Employment: This is a regular, full-time position, onsite, reporting to the HR & Administrative Services Manager

The Opportunity

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team at our Homer, Alaska location. This position touches every aspect of Human Resources (HR), including retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll, and training. In This Role, You'll Have The Opportunity To
  • Research, gather, organize and prepare historical, compliance related and regulatory data as assigned.
  • Coordinate scheduling interviews, in-state or out-of-state travel coordination, training events and meeting arrangements. Maintain a schedule on a computer calendar and take notes at various meetings as assigned.
  • Assist employees with updating employment documents as may be required for the processing of employment file or payroll data changes.
  • Maintain department records and filing systems for both physical and electronic files. May require extended periods of filing and data entry.
  • Prepare professional-level documents and presentations for HR functions and training.
  • Provide primary backup and support for the HR Generalist when absent or as otherwise required for the completion of the department's duties. Provides support to the HR & Administrative Services Manager as requested and acts as secondary backup in the absence of the HR & Administrative Services Manager and the HR Generalist.
What Makes You a Good Fit
  • A successful candidate will have a background demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and extraordinary organizational skills.
  • The ability to coordinate with outside agencies, internal employees and management staff with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Associate's degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; in lieu of the degree requirement, an additional four years of applicable experience may replace the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of three years of human resources or related administrative experience, with demonstrated responsibility for supporting multiple HR functions. Experience in a shared services or regulated environment preferred.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
