Job summary

Homer Electric Association is seeking a Human Resources Associate at our Homer, Alaska location. The role covers retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll and training, with duties spanning data handling, scheduling, and document preparation.

You will support the HR Generalist and HR Manager while maintaining strict confidentiality and accurate records. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in HR or related field, plus at least

• Maintain HR records and filing systems, electronic and physical; data entry as needed.
• Prepare professional HR documents and presentations.
• Provide backup support to the HR Generalist and HR Manager as needed.

The Opportunity:

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Human Resources Associate to join our team at our Homer, Alaska location. This position touches every aspect of Human Resources (HR), including retirement, benefits, reporting, payroll, and training. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Research, gather, organize and prepare historical, compliance related and regulatory data as assigned.
• Coordinate scheduling interviews, in-state or out-of-state travel coordination, training events and meeting arrangements. Maintain a schedule on a computer calendar and take notes at various meetings as assigned.
• Assist employees with updating employment documents as may be required for the processing of employment file or payroll data changes.
• Maintain department records and filing systems for both physical and electronic files. May require extended periods of filing and data entry.
• Prepare professional-level documents and presentations for HR functions and training.
• Provide primary backup and support for the HR Generalist when absent or as otherwise required for the completion of the department's duties. Provides support to the HR & Administrative Services Manager as requested and acts as secondary backup in the absence of the HR & Administrative Services Manager and the HR Generalist.

• The ability to coordinate with outside agencies, internal employees and management staff with the utmost confidentiality.
• Associate's degree with emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; in lieu of the degree requirement, an additional four years of applicable experience may replace the degree requirement.
• Minimum of three years of human resources or related administrative experience, with demonstrated responsibility for supporting multiple HR functions. Experience in a shared services or regulated environment preferred.
• Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
