Human Resources Assistant – Short-Term – Non-Classified – (Diversity, Equity & Compliance) District

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of an assigned administrator, the assistant provides confidential and administrative, technical, and customer service support to the Office of Human Resources and Employee Relations (HRER). Duties include recruitment, onboarding, compliance documentation, and general HRER operations in accordance with California Education Code, Title 5 regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and district policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation of materials and documentation for labor relations and collective bargaining, including research and statistical data.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files following Education Code and district retention requirements.
  • Support onboarding processes such as Live Scan coordination, I‑9 verification, and new hire documentation.
  • Handle sensitive information in compliance with laws, rules, and district policies.
  • Assist with projects such as classification reviews, data audits, and process improvements.
  • Maintain mandatory training tracking, credential verification, TB clearance, and employment eligibility.
  • Perform general administrative duties: scheduling, document preparation, scanning, and correspondence.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant tracking, screening logistics, and candidate communications.
  • Provide front‑line customer service to employees, applicants, and the public; route complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Process personnel actions such as assignments, separations, salary placement documentation, and timesheets.
  • Enter and update information in various systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; duties not listed do not exclude related or similar work.
Qualifications
  • Completion of the twelfth grade and one year of clerical, administrative, or HR‑related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • College coursework in HR, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic HR, office, and customer service principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HRIS and applicant tracking systems.
  • Professional, effective communication skills with diverse populations in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the varied academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the college community.
Employment Details

Type: Temporary, hourly as needed; up to 160 days per fiscal year.

Salary: $28.00 per hour.

Work Hours: 8‑hour days, 40 hours per week; overtime eligible for hours worked beyond 40 per week.

Effective Date: August 2026.

Benefits
