Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service in person, by telephone, and email; complete correspondence, including answering written inquiries and preparing letters to obtain missing information.
  • Evaluate and authenticate documents for record support.
  • Interpret policies and procedures regarding eligibility requirements and benefits for personnel actions.
  • Identify, correct, and verify inaccurate information in personnel systems.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
  • Retired military members may be appointed within 180 days of retirement in accordance with 5 U.S.C. 3326.
  • Males born after 12‑31‑59 must register for Selective Service.
  • Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to duty; failure may result in withdrawal of the job offer or removal.
Qualifications
  • GS‑05: At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS‑04 grade level or pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate:
    • Examining, evaluating, and extracting information needed to process personnel actions for all personnel categories.
    • Maintaining, formatting, verifying content, and using personnel records.
    • Using personnel databases to research, update, and process personnel actions.
    • Collaborating with individuals, departments, and other organizations to obtain required information.
  • GS‑04: At least one year of generalized experience demonstrating progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work indicating the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed for the duties of the position.
Education
  • GS‑05: Successful completion of at least four full academic years of education above high school, or a combination of experience and education equal to one year of experience.
  • GS‑04: Successful completion of at least two full academic years of education above high school, or a combination of experience and education equal to one year of experience.
