AHMC Healthcare in Monterey Park, CA is seeking an HR Assistant to perform onboarding and personnel file management under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources. You will process new hires, keep documents current, and handle employment verifications, PCNs, and termination processing.

The role requires English proficiency, prior general office or personnel experience, and maintaining strict confidentiality in all HR matters.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred; college degree desired.
  • Must speak, read, and write English with good command of the language.
  • General office and/or Personnel related experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Processes new hires.
  • Obtains necessary documents in compliance with department procedures.
  • Maintains employee personnel files and other relevant files.
  • Processes new hire reports to the state on a timely basis.
  • Maintains logs related to workers’ compensation claims; processes reports and follows up with any loss time claims.
  • Processes Personnel Notice Change (PCN’s) related to employees’ status including increases, transfers, and other relevant changes.
  • Processes computer input for newly hired employees and all other changes on existing employees.
  • Appropriately processes employee terminations.
  • Plans and coordinates all facets of the new orientation for newly hired employees.
  • Assists others in sending reminders for licenses and certificates to all department managers and follows up with any overdue documents.
  • Responds to all employment verifications in a timely manner.
  • Screens telephone calls, visitors, and mail; handles all phone calls in a professional, courteous and friendly manner.
  • Administers evaluations and processes them as per company policy.
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality for all Personnel matters and ensures proper confidentiality of all documents.
  • Deals with employee requests, questions, or concerns in a courteous, professional, efficient and effective manner following the company’s expectation of providing excellent customer service.
  • Starts the initial screening of applicants for non‑skilled positions and provides necessary screening tests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
