The State of West Virginia is seeking a detail-oriented HR Records Clerk to maintain personnel files, payroll logs, and assist the HR Manager with recruitment and onboarding tasks. You will review payroll daily, prepare hire packets, support orientation, and ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
May require working a security post as needed. Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least two years of clerical experience, including one year in HR/payroll related work.
Under close supervision, this position will be responsible for maintaining various personnel records/files for employees, maintain several logs for the agency and perform various tasks to assist the Human Resources Manager to maintain a full staff. This position will maintain accurate payroll records and review payroll on a daily basis. Assist applicants on the hiring process with DOP and administer CSI tests for all new applicants. Prepare all new employee hire packets and assist in new employee orientation. Maintain human resource records to ensure data and records are kept in a manner that is accurate and readily accessible. Ensures work is done in compliance with relevant federal and state laws. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work a security post.
Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or part-time equivalent paid clerical experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a support or paraprofessional role in human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting.
Substitution: Candidates may substitute education for the required experience at the rate of one (1) year of experience for each thirty (30) semester hours of education.
Note: A valid driver's license may be required.
