Job description

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is responsible for managing and protecting the state’s renewable natural resources, including all wildlife and aquatic life. LDWF supports a strong work ethic in its employees and incorporates the use of good science, accurate information and technology.

The Human Resources Specialist position will provide necessary support in managing the increasing volume and complexity of personnel related responsibilities for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The Office Human Resources Management provides comprehensive personnel services to approximately 800 employees across the Office of Management and Finance, Office of the Secretary, including the Enforcement Division, Office of Wildlife, and Office of Fisheries.

Qualifications
  • Three years of human resources experience; OR
  • Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

This position serves as a technical specialist performing in-depth/expanded activities within the Human Resources Division requiring advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position works closely with agency supervisors, managers, and administrators on personnel matters that are related to employee administration, classification and pay, performance evaluation systems, onboarding, orientation, and initial training expectations. This position is required to have working knowledge and proficiency in LA Careers and LaGov HCM systems, and possess knowledge of Civil Service Rules, state and federal laws, OSUP rules, and agency policies that relate to hiring and classification and pay.

Position‑Specific Details

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional. Current classified permanent status employees may be required to take a probational appointment if selected for this position.

Compensation
  • Human Resources Analyst A- $20.20hr / $1,616.00 bi-weekly
  • Human Resources Analyst B: $21.61hr / $1,728.80 bi-weekly
  • Human Resources Analyst C: $24.31hr / $1,944.80 bi-weekly
  • Human Resources Specialist: $26.01hr /$2,080.80 bi-weekly

Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit/college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification. A criminal background check will be required of all selected applicants. Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD‑214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
