Job summary

Olgoonik is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide direct HR support at a large federal contract worksite in Fairfax, VA. You will serve as a primary resource for employees and site supervisors, handling onboarding, employee records, employment actions, and performance counseling in collaboration with Corporate HR.

You will coordinate staffing, onboarding, and background checks, and partner with Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, and site leadership to ensure compliant, consistent HR

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational leadership, or related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible HR experience.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, or performance management.
  • Experience supporting a federal government contractor is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary HR resource for employees and site supervisors, providing day-to-day guidance and support regarding established Company HR policies, procedures, programs, and practices and coordinates with Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, or Human Resources management when specialized support is required.
  • Supports site supervisors with routine employee performance and conduct concerns, including the preparation, review, and delivery of coaching, counseling, and corrective-action documentation, in collaboration with Corporate HR and consistent with Company policy.
  • Coordinates with site supervisors, Corporate HR, and Recruiting to support staffing needs, including vacancies, job requisitions, applicant flow, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and hiring-process follow-up.

  • Collaborates with the HR team in pre-employment and onboarding activities, including offer-letter requests, required screening activities, new-hire documentation, onsite orientation, and follow-up to ensure required steps are completed accurately and on time.
  • Collaborates with the HR team in review of completed background-check reports in accordance with established Company procedures and review criteria, identifying matters requiring additional assessment, and referring potentially disqualifying information, individualized assessment, or adverse-action considerations to Corporate HR as needed.
  • Collaborates with HR management in routine fact-finding and assists with low-level employee relations matters and investigations as assigned, which may include interviewing employees and witnesses, gathering relevant documentation, preparing factual summaries, maintaining appropriate records, gathering relevant documentation, preparing factual summaries, and maintaining appropriate records.
  • Promptly escalates allegations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace violence, serious misconduct, significant safety concerns, potential legal or regulatory violations, proposed termination, suspension, final warning, or other sensitive or high-risk matters to Corporate HR for direction and review.
  • Collaborates with the HR team in maintenance of accurate and confidential employee, applicant, background-check, investigation, and other HR records; conducts periodic reviews of HR documentation and workflows to identify incomplete, inconsistent, or untimely records and coordinate correction as appropriate.
  • Supports compliance with applicable Company policies, contract-specific requirements, and federal, state, and local employment requirements within the scope of assigned responsibilities, identifying recurring process concerns and recommending improvements to Human Resources management.
  • Provides general HR support and backup assistance as assigned and performs other related duties consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Overview

The Human Resources Generalist provides human resources support for a large federal contract worksite. Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational leadership, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and progressively responsible human resources experience may be considered.
  • Three years of progressively responsible human resources experience is required, including experience supporting employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, performance management, or HR administration.
  • Experience supporting routine employee relations matters and assisting managers or supervisors with performance or conduct concerns is required.
  • Experience supporting a large, multi-shift, industrial, warehouse, logistics, or similar workforce is preferred.
  • Three years of Human Resources experience supporting a federal government contractor is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations applicable to assigned HR responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, and corporate functional teams in a high-volume work environment.
  • Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, HR documentation, and personnel recordkeeping practices.
  • Ability to interpret and consistently apply established Company policies and procedures and recognize circumstances requiring escalation to Corporate Human Resources.
  • Ability to conduct objective fact-finding interviews, document relevant information accurately, and distinguish factual findings from assumptions or conclusions.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate, factual, and professionally written HR documentation.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and human resources information systems and/or applicant tracking systems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
