Job description

Olsten Staffing is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist (HRG) to join our team in Mullins, SC. This is a temporary, full-time, on-site position supporting assigned distribution center (DC) locations, with approximately 25% travel between facilities, job fairs, university outreach programs, and community recruiting events.

The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, for a total of 40 hours per week. The hourly pay range is $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

The HR Generalist will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and serve as a key HR resource for employees, supervisors, and DC management. This position supports a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, safety, training, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Staffing Support
  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment for distribution center positions, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and background checks.
  • Maintain talent pipelines for high-turnover and seasonal positions in partnership with the Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist (ROS).
  • Participate in job fairs, university outreach programs, and local community hiring events.
  • Partner with DC leadership to identify staffing needs and support timely hiring.
Onboarding & Employee Integration
  • Conduct new-hire orientations and ensure a welcoming, informative, and compliant onboarding experience.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to ensure training schedules and 30-, 60-, and 90-day plans align with company standards.
  • Track and follow up on required training, certifications, and employment documentation.
  • Help new employees successfully integrate into the workplace and company culture.
Employee Relations & Support
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related matters.
  • Provide guidance regarding company policies and procedures.
  • Assist supervisors with employee coaching and corrective actions under the direction of the Human Resources Manager.
  • Support the Human Resources Manager with employee investigations and resolution of workplace concerns.
  • Promote a respectful, professional, and positive work environment.
Performance Management & Development
  • Support supervisors with goal setting, performance reviews, and employee development planning.
  • Assist in promoting the company's Listen, Learn, and Collaborate (LLC) training initiatives.
  • Help identify employee training and development needs.
  • Coordinate training sessions and support continuous employee development.
HR Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of timekeeping, leave requests, disciplinary actions, and compliance-related records.
  • Maintain accurate employee files and HRIS information.
  • Ensure data accuracy within HR systems, including Paylocity and PerformYard.
  • Support compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure HR practices are consistent with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Culture & Employee Engagement
  • Participate in planning and coordinating employee engagement activities and events.
  • Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, accountability, and teamwork consistent with company values.
  • Build strong relationships with employees and operational leadership.
  • Maintain a visible HR presence on the distribution center floor.
Reporting & HR Systems
  • Assist with generating HR reports related to attendance, performance, turnover, staffing, and other HR metrics.
  • Utilize HRIS platforms to manage employee information and maintain accurate records.
  • Support payroll and benefits processing as needed by ensuring documentation and employee information are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • While payroll preparation and benefits administration are managed by the HRIS Payroll & Benefits Administrator, the HR Generalist plays an important role in facilitating these processes through accurate documentation and communication.

This position typically does not have direct reports.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a Human Resources Generalist role.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, safety, training, and employee development.
  • Previous experience in a distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, or retail environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, operational environment is highly desirable.

Technology Requirements
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms.
  • Experience with Paylocity and PerformYard is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Equivalent Human Resources experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Mobility
  • Must be able to move throughout a distribution center environment on a daily basis.
  • Ability to walk on concrete floors, climb stairs, and transition between warehouse and office areas.
Standing & Walking
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, particularly during daily safety walks and employee floor presence.
  • Typically requires approximately 2–4 hours of standing and walking per day.
Lifting & Carrying
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as a laptop, training materials, or small supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
Posture, Vision & Hearing
  • Adequate visual and auditory acuity is required for computer use, reviewing reports and documentation, and effective communication.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both office settings and active, moderate-noise warehouse environments.
Work Environment
  • Work is primarily performed in a distribution center environment.
  • Position may involve exposure to varying temperatures, warehouse noise, moving equipment, and active operational areas.
  • Regular interaction with employees and operational leadership on the warehouse floor is expected.
  • Occasional office-based work will be required for administrative and HR functions.
Travel Requirements

This position requires approximately 25% travel between assigned distribution centers.
