THE POSITION

The Human Resource Analyst 2 with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is a dynamic position that supports important labor and employee relations work at Southwestern Veterans' Center. This role allows you to influence positive change and strengthen teamwork through clear guidance and consistent practices. You help ensure that policies are applied fairly and that workplace concerns are addressed with care.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the veterans home by managing employee relations and labor relations activities for multiple unions. It plays a key role in guiding supervisors, improving processes, and helping maintain fair and consistent workplace practices. As a Human Resource Analyst 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Oversight: Supervise timekeeping staff, as well as support accurate time and leave processes
  • Leave Management: Review leave procedures, resolve payroll issues, and train supervisors on leave policies
  • Discipline Coordination: Conduct investigations, review incidents, and guide supervisors through disciplinary steps
  • Grievance Handling: Research cases, prepare responses, and represent management in discussions with unions
  • Labor Meetings: Facilitate meetings with union representatives, prepare packets, and maintain positive working relationships
  • Policy Guidance: Interpret contract language and policies and respond to employee inquiries
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Resource Analyst 1 or Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of analytical experience that includes one year of professional human resource or equal opportunity experience, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
