Job summary

The Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System (SERS) is seeking a Time Advisor to support a wide range of human resource functions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks while delivering high-quality customer service and dependable office support.

The role covers time and attendance administration, EPR and supplementary employment coordination, and maintenance of official personnel

Qualifications

  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 or equivalent.
  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Time and Attendance Administration: Ensure accurate processing of time, attendance, schedule changes, and other transactions; research and resolve issues; generate and monitor reports.
  • Program Coordination: Help supervisors and managers ensure accurate and timely completion of EPRs and onboard new employees; oversee supplementary employment requests and tracking; assist other HR program coordinators as needed.
  • Personnel File Maintenance: Prepare, upload, and certify electronic records to OPFs; follow records retention procedures and policies.
  • Customer Assistance: Provide policy, procedure, and technical advice to managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Receptionist Duties: Greet customers, answer/direct calls and email inquiries; handle incoming mail; maintain office equipment and supplies.

Job description

The Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System (SERS) is seeking to fill our agency's Time Advisor position. In this position, you'll gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of human resource functions. The successful candidate will have a sharp eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to seamlessly shift between tasks, all while delivering excellent customer service and dependable office support. This position provides program support to the SERS Human Resources Office while also serving as the agency Time Advisor. Key responsibilities include all time and attendance administration, coordination of the supplementary employment and employee performance review (EPR) programs, and maintenance of official personnel files (OPFs). This position also serves as a first point of contact for internal and external customers by greeting and assisting visitors, answering the main HR telephone line and email resource account, and responding to a wide variety of requests for information regarding HR processes and procedures.

Key responsibilities as a Human Resource Assistant 2 include:

  • Time and Attendance Administration:Ensure accurate processing of time, attendance, schedule change, and other transactions; research and resolve issues; and generate and monitor reports

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday.
  • A work schedule beginning and ending between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, inclusive, with a half-hour or one-hour unpaid meal period will be considered, dependent on operational requirements.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (hybrid telework schedule) part-time, up to three days per week, depending on operational needs and progress in learning assigned tasks. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);
  • One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work;
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
