Overview

We are currently seeking an HSE Manager for our Transportation Division in Chicago, IL.

The HSE Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the health, safety and environmental (EHS) processes. The HSE Manager shall be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State and Local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement site-specific EHS plans in collaboration with the Project Manager and management team, ensuring adherence to all corporate, divisional, and regional EHS policies.
  • Coordinate EHS protocols with subcontractors, vendors, and owner personnel, and assist in planning to eliminate hazards and manage risks.
  • Conduct quarterly on-site EHS audits, inspect project sites, equipment, and processes for compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Investigate accidents, complete incident reports, and follow up on medical evaluations.
  • Advise on Industrial Hygiene protocols and perform Environmental Monitoring.
  • Manage the company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including testing procedures.
  • Provide EHS training and education, including new hire orientation programs.
  • Administer corporate EHS processes such as SPAT on assigned projects.
  • Provide weekly updates to EHS Leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • CHST Certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction EHS.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of regulations, hazard recognition, and injury management.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Salary range: $90,000 - $134,000.
