Job summary

CITGO Petroleum Corporation invites energetic students to join our Safety Internship program in Lake Charles, LA. You will work across Safety Engineering, Safety Management, Emergency Preparedness, Industrial Hygiene, Employee Health, and Contractor Safety to implement and enhance the safety management system.

Spring, Summer or Fall 2027 opportunities with remote work options where eligible. Must be pursuing a degree in Fire Protection or related fields and meet GPA/credit-hour requirements.

Qualifications

• Full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in Fire Protection, Safety, Occupational Health or Public Health.
• Must have completed 30 semester hours in the listed topics.
• GPA 3.0 or above.

Responsibilities

• Assist in field surveys and audits of unit operations.
• Develop processes for tracking and analyzing HSE data.
• Create HSE posters, moments, flashes and training materials.
• Assist in improving contractor HSE incident management and ISNetworld usage.
• Enter data into a central HSE database.
• Support facility HSE Committee(s)/Team(s).
• Participate in HSE management system reviews or self-assessments.
