Job summary

Yorkshire Baker seeks an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to support the HSE Manager in delivering strategy and day-to-day guidance to operational teams. The role blends shop-floor presence with effective management of HSE systems, driving ownership of responsibilities and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will conduct risk assessments, investigations, audits and environmental monitoring, while promoting HSE awareness and compliance across the site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a HSE role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in environmental responsibilities; IEMA/NEBOSH qualification is an advantage.
• Experience with accident/incident investigations and risk assessment.
• Experience working with HSE management systems.
• Strong communication skills with confidence to challenge.
• Ability to influence and achieve results through others in a fast-paced environment.
• Practical, solutions-focused approach to HSE.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical guidance and challenge on risk control and safe systems of work.
• Maintain a visible shop-floor presence to observe activities and coach safe behaviors.
• Support operational teams in fulfilling HSE responsibilities and actions.
• Review HSE risk assessments ensuring suitability and sufficiency.
• Carry out HSE assessments and inspections, implementing controls.
• Support investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses and ensure corrective actions.
• Support delivery of site HSE KPIs.
• Conduct internal audits and inspections for compliance with standards.
• Promote awareness of HSE throughout the site and environmental controls.
