Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking a head coach to lead a comprehensive high school sports program. The role requires organizing a total program, guiding coaching staff, and ensuring high standards of sportsmanship and student growth.

The successful candidate will supervise staff, collaborate with the athletic director and principals, and continually pursue coaching education to enhance program results and character development for student athletes.

Qualifications

• Must examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• Head coach must serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
• Follow athletic policies approved by the Board of Education and implement them across the staff.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for individual and team success.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
• Supervise staff of high school and middle school coaches with the athletic director and principals.
• Schedule, coordinate transportation and tournaments; adhere to facility times and safety regulations.
• Maintain equipment, inventory, and budget compliance; enforce discipline and due process when needed.
• Mentor student athletes on character development, academics and sportsmanship.
