Job summary

The DeKalb County School District is seeking a Head Coach to lead a comprehensive high school sports program. You will guide athletes in fundamental skills, team strategy, and physical training while promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and pride in achievement.

You will supervise staff, coordinate scheduling, ensure compliance with athletic policies, mentor student athletes, manage equipment and safety, and collaborate with the athletic director and principals to advance program goals.

Qualifications

• Must organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for team success.
• Supervise and mentor staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches.
• Schedule events and coordinate with athletic director, principals and facilities.
• Advise athletic director/principal on policy, procedure changes and safety considerations.
• Promote good sportsmanship, character development and student wellbeing.
