Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife seeks an HR and Safety Data Engineer to build and maintain HR, HRIS, and Safety data pipelines. The role advances enterprise data engineering, automation, integration, and HRIS support within ITS Division, including Workday and HRMS connections.

You will design data models, develop ETL/ELT pipelines, and create dashboards with Power BI to enable operational and strategic analytics while ensuring security, governance, and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, HR, or Safety with 4 years IT experience or eight years IT experience
• Experience with relational database design, SQL, programming and scripting (Arcade, Python, JavaScript) and data access pattern designs

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain curated HR, HRIS, and Safety datasets including SQL views, stored procedures, validated models, and structured extracts.
• Ingest, transform, reconcile, and publish data across Workday, HRMS, Safety platforms, and ITS applications (e.g. Total Time).
• Build validated datasets and reporting models supporting SSRS/Power BI dashboards for analytics.
• Maintain documentation of data lineage, definitions, and mappings.
