HR Generalist - 12-Month Contract

Location: Jacksonville, FL - Local Candidates Required

Schedule: Hybrid - Approximately 6 Days Onsite Per Month

Duration: Approximately 12 Months

Position Summary

A well-established organization is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to provide long-term temporary support to its Human Resources team. This position is expected to last approximately 12 months and will provide coverage for two consecutive leaves within the HR Business Partner team.

During the first six months, the HR Generalist will work closely with an HR Business Partner and receive hands‑on training and support. During the second half of the assignment, the individual will transition to supporting another HR Business Partner and will be expected to operate with increasing independence.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys a combination of HR operations, HRIS/Workday administration, performance management, and manager support.

Key Responsibilities
HRIS / Workday Administration

A significant portion of this position will involve maintaining accurate employee information and supporting HR processes within Workday.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Review, update, and clean up job titles and job profiles
  • Audit and correct employee and job-related information
  • Process manager changes, employee transfers, and other organizational updates
  • Maintain accurate HR data and documentation
  • Assist with HR-related processes associated with employees relocating between states
  • Help determine payroll and employment capabilities in various states
  • Support ongoing HRIS data integrity and process-improvement initiatives
Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Assist managers with routine employee-relations matters
  • Prepare and maintain employee performance documentation
  • Assist with written warnings and other performance-management documentationEnsure appropriate documentation and HR procedures are followed
  • Provide general HR guidance and support to managers as needed

This position will support day-to-day employee relations but is not intended to be heavily focused on complex workplace investigations.

HR Operations & Business Partner Support
  • Provide day-to-day support to HR Business Partners and company managers
  • Coordinate and follow established HR processes and procedures
  • Maintain organized and accurate HR documentation
  • Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and HR leadership
  • Learn and document processes to ensure continuity throughout the assignment
  • Adapt to different leadership and management styles
  • Take on increasing responsibility and independence as the assignment progresses
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills-able to do pivot tables and v-lookups
  • 1-3 years' of hands‑on Human Resources experience, ideally in an HR Generalist or similar capacity
  • Experience working with an HRIS; Workday experience is highly preferred
  • General knowledge of employee relations and performance-management practices
  • Experience supporting managers and employees with day-to-day HR matters
  • Strong organizational and process-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly and work with increasing independence
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, professional environment

HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar credentials are a plus but are not required.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a Jacksonville‑based hybrid position, and candidates must be local to the Jacksonville area.

The position is expected to require approximately six days per month in the office, with the remainder of the schedule worked remotely. When onsite, appropriate private workspace will be provided due to the confidential nature of Human Resources responsibilities.
