Job summary

Vaco by Highspring, Irvine, CA, seeks an HR Generalist to enhance the employee experience from recruitment to team integration. The role leads events, onboarding content, and HRBP support while delivering data-driven insights and compliant processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to employee events, engagement initiatives, and onboarding programs.
  • Strong experience supporting HR Business Partners and/or leadership teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling) and data visualization/reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP or comparable HCM systems.
  • Expert-level skill with Canva and advanced PowerPoint for creating polished HR content.
  • Experience administering HR policies and programs.
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry preferred.
  • Experience supporting both local and remote employee populations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).
  • Clear, professional communication skills - written, verbal, and presentation.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in enhancing the employee experience and ensuring a seamless journey from candidate to team member. This role leads cultural and engagement initiatives-including event planning, onboarding, and internal communications-while supporting HR Business Partners (HRBPs) through program delivery, analytics, and day-to-day operational support. The Generalist contributes to a positive, compliant, and engaging workplace environment through data-driven insights and excellent service delivery.

Essential Functions & Main Duties
Employee Experience & Events
  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of company-wide events and recognition programs (town halls, volunteer days, holiday events, training sessions). Oversee concept development through post-event analysis.
  • Develop and implement programs that enhance and measure employee engagement, building a high-trust and positive work environment.
  • Serve as a first-point resource for employee inquiries, delivering clear, empathetic, and timely guidance.
Onboarding & Training Content
  • Own and continuously refine the new hire onboarding experience to ensure smooth integration into company culture.
  • Design and deliver high-quality visual content, presentations, training modules, and infographics using Canva and advanced PowerPoint-level tools.
  • Communicate HR policies, procedures, and programs through accessible, engaging instructional content.
HRBP Support & Data Analytics
  • Provide direct support to HRBPs on cyclical HR processes, initiatives, and administrative tasks.
  • Use advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and data visualization/reporting to track HR metrics (turnover, engagement, time-to-hire) and provide meaningful insights.
  • Update and maintain accurate employee data in the HCM system, with strong proficiency in ADP.
Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain written HR instructions and documentation to support cross-training and process consistency.
  • Assist in designing and implementing HR programs that comply with federal and state employment laws.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes to safeguard both employees and the organization.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience (Coordinator, Specialist, or Generalist).
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to employee events, engagement initiatives, and onboarding programs.
  • Strong experience supporting HR Business Partners and/or leadership teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling) and data visualization/reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP or comparable HCM systems.
  • Expert-level skill with Canva and advanced PowerPoint for creating polished, professional HR and training content.
  • Experience administering HR policies and programs.
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry preferred.
  • Experience supporting both local and remote employee populations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).

  • Analytical thinker with ability to conceptualize issues, interpret trends, and drive effective solutions.
  • Event management experience, including logistics, communication, and budget considerations.
  • Solid understanding of HR compliance and regulatory requirements.
