Position Overview
A leading North American manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced HR & Talent Manager to lead Human Resources and talent initiatives for a well-established manufacturing facility.
This is a highly visible leadership position supporting both the workforce and plant leadership. The HR & Talent Manager will lead the local HR team, oversee employee relations, recruiting, compensation and payroll administration, benefits, training, and talent development, while serving as a trusted advisor to division leadership.
The right candidate will combine strong HR knowledge with the confidence and leadership presence required to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the facility's Human Resources team
- Partner with division leadership on talent strategy, workforce planning, and organizational needs
- Manage employee relations matters and provide guidance to managers and employees
- Support and participate in workplace investigations
- Oversee recruiting and hiring activities for full-time employees and student programs
- Provide leadership around employee onboarding, development, training, and retention
- Oversee administration of employee benefits programs
- Support FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and other applicable employment requirements
- Oversee weekly payroll administration and attendance processes
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are communicated and consistently applied
- Help develop and implement strategic initiatives supporting broader business objectives
- Coordinate division-wide training and employee development efforts
- Support internal communication, employee engagement, and company events
- Represent HR in leadership meetings and cross-functional initiatives
- Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and company standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 5+ years of Human Resources experience
- At least 1 year of leadership experience
- Strong employee relations and HR operations experience
- Ability to confidently advise and influence managers and senior leadership
- Strong communication, judgment, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
Preferred Qualifications
- HR experience within manufacturing, industrial, steel, metals, automotive, heavy manufacturing, or a related environment
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
- Experience using SAP SuccessFactors or another HRIS platform
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
- Experience supporting a large hourly workforce
- Experience with recruiting, employee relations, benefits, payroll, and talent development
