The New School seeks a Student Assistant Specialist to support HR in student hire processing, onboarding, and I-9 verification. You’ll respond to inquiries via the HR inbox and connect employees with HR resources and colleagues for specialized assistance.

Hybrid work arrangement. The role emphasizes high-quality customer service, professionalism, and timely communication with hiring managers and campus partners.

Qualifications

• One to 2 years of related professional-level work experience; OR equivalent work experience
• Effective written communication and customer service skills
• General working knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and practices
• Demonstrated ability to effectively balance multiple tasks and inquiries
• Federal Work Study Award

Responsabilités

• Review student hiring submissions for accuracy and completeness.
• Track onboarding requirements and proactively follow up on missing documentation.
• Maintain clear, consistent communication with hiring managers and campus partners regarding onboarding statuses and potential start-date delays.
• Identify and elevate compliance or onboarding bottlenecks to the appropriate HR team members.
• Assist with the completion of section two of the Form I-9 employment eligibility verification.
• Update and monitor the I-9 Appointment log and associated communications to new hires.
• Monitor multiple HR inboxes and associated responsibilities, resolve general inquiries with high professionalism, and elevate complex requests to specialized HR colleagues as needed.
• Assist with request form entry
