Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to manage key HR programs and employment processes for a workforce of over 600 faculty, staff, and student employees. The role oversees student employment, recruitment, training, documentation, and policy adherence.

The position supports supervisor training, workforce readiness, and cross-training initiatives to strengthen employee development and service continuity within the library.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee student employment for 450-500 employees and educate student supervisors on policies and regulations.
  • Consult with student supervisors on resolving student employment issues in coordination with HR BP.
  • Oversee and optimize Library student employee orientation and training programs.
  • Oversee processing of hires, terminations, pay rate changes, etc. for all Library student employees.
  • Manage implementation of and adherence to Library-wide student employee policies and work expectations.
  • Hold supervisor trainings to update supervisors on best practices.
  • Maintain data accuracy across Workday transactions, including employee status/location updates and supervisory assignments.
  • Assist in evaluation and processing of staff salary changes.
  • Coordinate with supervisors as vacancies are posted and filled; train Hiring Committee members.
  • Train supervisors in posting staff positions in Workday and on hiring, training, and retention best practices.
  • Function as contact point with COE and maintain communication with hiring supervisors to ensure compliance with policies.
  • Oversee, optimize, and manage employee cross-training and mentoring programs to develop succession pathways.
  • Advise staff on compensation policies related to overtime, training attendance, and travel.
  • Advise faculty search committees on procedure and process; facilitate applicant review and interview processes for Library faculty positions.
