Job summary

New York State Police seeks an experienced HR professional to support the Member Hiring Unit. The role involves handling processing steps for trooper class appointments, assisting with background investigations, and coordinating hiring tasks across NYS locations during events.

The incumbent will track candidates, manage data input in the Trooper Exam System, and supervise staff. Strong analytical skills and ability to travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of Human Resources experience.
• OR Associate's degree and 4 years of Human Resources experience.
• OR 6 years of Human Resources experience.
• OR One year of permanent service in a SG-13 position or higher.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with applicants about processing events and steps for a class appointment.
• Assist with preparing, processing, and tracking background investigation reports.
• Assist with administrative hiring tasks at NYS locations during events; may include overnight travel.
• Track candidates in the Trooper Exam System and other software; manage data input.
• Create and manage distribution lists for mass communications via Everbridge Suite and other tools.
• Supervise and train subordinate staff involved in hiring processes.
• Conduct studies and analyses related to Member Hiring Unit programs and trends.
• Collect and evaluate data to identify needs and improvement opportunities.
• Develop surveys and information-gathering tools to support processes.
• Analyze data and prepare findings, recommendations, and materials for decision making.
• Prepare reports, tables, charts, fact sheets and other materials for decisions.
• Perform additional duties as directed by supervisory staff.
