Job summary

MANN+HUMMEL in Portage, Michigan, is hiring for an HR support role on the manufacturing floor. The position provides day-to-day HR assistance, drives hourly recruitment, coordinates onboarding, and partners with the HR Shared Services Center to deliver end-to-end services across the employee lifecycle.

The successful candidate will maintain accurate records, assist with HRIS platforms such as ADP, SuccessFactors, and Workforce, and support safety and engagement initiatives in a fast-paced plant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or related field.
  • HR internship or entry-level admin experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production/manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and supervisors on the manufacturing floor.
  • Drive hourly recruitment: posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate and support new hire onboarding and orientation for plant employees.
  • Partner with the HR Shared Services Center to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end HR services across the employee lifecycle ("hire to retire").
  • Maintain accurate employee records, timekeeping data, and ensure documentation is compliant with company and legal standards.
  • Help enroll and train employees on systems such as HRIS (HR Information System) platforms like ADP, SuccessFactors and Workforce.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and procedures in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities and company events.
  • Support safety initiatives and compliance.
  • Participate in HR projects and contribute to process improvement efforts.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and medical support orders as needed, ensuring accurate handling.
  • Serve as HR support for staffing agencies, facilitating communication with hiring managers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Your Profile

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Internship in Human Resources or entry level position in Administration

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production/manufacturing setting and engaging with diverse employee groups

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with HR systems such as Workforce Time and Attendance, SuccessFactors, and ADP GlobalView

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts and other machinery.
