Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking an HR Associate I to support the HR Service Team with onboarding new employees and the full spectrum of HR processes including compensation, benefits, and employee relations.

You will conduct employment and degree verifications, coordinate recruiting activities, maintain personnel files, and ensure compliance with background checks, TB screening, licensure, and I-9 verifications. VOALA is an Equal Opportunity employer and participates in E-Verify.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (4 years).
• Minimum of one year of related HR work experience.
• Ability to pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with Mandated Reporter responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Supports HR Service Team: triage incoming calls and direct to HR support.
• Assist onboarding tasks and new employee orientation.
• Maintain and support Benefits, Classification & Compensation, Compliance, and Employee Relations efforts.
• Conduct employment, degree and eligibility verifications; manage background checks and licensure records.
• Assist in maintaining employee files and HR data in the HR system.
