CraneWorks is a global provider of lifting solutions, known for safety, quality and teamwork. The HR & Safety Compliance Generalist will support employee relations, investigations, and HR/safety compliance while coordinating training, reporting and HR administration.

Based in Houston, this role partners with managers, clinics and insurers to ensure compliant operations and effective personnel processes within a multi-location workforce.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist, employee relations, compliance, or safety-support capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations and preparing clear, objective documentation and findings summaries.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, OSHA recordkeeping, workers' compensation, and workplace safety administration.

Responsibilities

  • Support employee relations matters, including complaints, workplace concerns, policy violations, performance and conduct issues.
  • Conduct and/or support HR, safety, workplace conduct, and incident investigations, including interviews, evidence review, documentation, findings summaries, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain confidential investigation files and elevate significant employee relations, retaliation, discrimination, harassment, safety, or policy concerns to HR leadership.
  • Assist HR leadership with corrective actions, performance documentation, policy interpretation, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Support HR compliance reporting, audits, recordkeeping, personnel documentation, HRIS data maintenance, onboarding, and general HR administration.
  • Administer the company cell phone allowance/program, including eligibility and employee changes.
  • Administer HR and safety training, including assigning, scheduling, monitoring, reporting, and manager follow-up on overdue training.
  • Maintain OSHA 300/300A records and required safety documentation; coordinate annual OSHA postings and verify location compliance.
  • Prepare monthly safety metrics and reports, including TRIR and LTIR, using payroll hours and incident data.
  • Coordinate random testing requirements through LeeTrans or other applicable providers.

Job Summary:The HR & Safety Compliance Generalist supports CraneWorks' Human Resources and Safety functions, with primary responsibility for employee relations, workplace investigations, HR and safety compliance, training administration, reporting, and general HR administration. The role coordinates key safety administration activities, including OSHA recordkeeping, incident reporting, workers' compensation, vehicle incidents, required training, and post-accident testing. This position is also responsible for HR and Safety special projects and works cross-functionally with managers, employees, branch leadership, insurance partners, clinics, and other vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support employee relations matters, including complaints, workplace concerns, policy violations, performance and conduct issues.
  • Conduct and/or support HR, safety, workplace conduct, and incident investigations, including interviews, evidence review, documentation, findings summaries, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain confidential investigation files and elevate significant employee relations, retaliation, discrimination, harassment, safety, or policy concerns to HR leadership.
  • Assist HR leadership with corrective actions, performance documentation, policy interpretation, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Support HR compliance reporting, audits, recordkeeping, personnel documentation, HRIS data maintenance, onboarding, and general HR administration.
  • Administer the company cell phone allowance/program, including eligibility and employee changes.
  • Administer HR and safety training, including assigning, scheduling, monitoring, reporting, and manager follow-up on overdue training.
  • Maintain HSI Safety Software, including employee adds/terms and incident records, and support year-end OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate Toolbox Talks, Office Safety training, Safety Moments, and recurring safety and compliance training.
  • Maintain OSHA 300/300A records and required safety documentation; coordinate annual OSHA postings and verify location compliance.
  • Prepare monthly safety metrics and reports, including TRIR and LTIR, using payroll hours and incident data.
  • Monitor monthly branch safety meetings and maintain meeting minutes and supporting records.
  • Coordinate random testing requirements through LeeTrans or other applicable providers.
  • Coordinate captive and compliance training, including Train-the-Trainer certifications as applicable, and assist with insurance captive reporting and administration.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) materials and coordinate quarterly updates.
  • Assist with subcontractor prequalification submissions and Job Hazard Analyses as requested.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims and documentation under HR leadership oversight, including communication with employees, managers, carriers, adjusters, and medical providers.
  • Responsible for coordinating vehicle and property incident administration, documentation, investigation, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate post-accident drug and alcohol testing, chain-of-custody documentation, work restrictions, and return-to-work follow-up.
  • Develop and maintain the regional occupational clinic network, including identifying providers, establishing post-accident testing protocols, providing job information, and coordinating company-wide processes.
  • Lead and/or support HR and Safety special projects, compliance initiatives, process improvements, audits, system implementations, and other cross-functional projects as assigned.
  • Perform other HR, safety, compliance, reporting, and administrative duties as business needs require.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist, employee relations, compliance, or safety-support capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting or supporting workplace investigations and preparing clear, objective documentation and findings summaries.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, OSHA recordkeeping, workers' compensation, and workplace safety administration.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, communication, reporting, data analysis, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/LMS platforms; ADP Workforce Now experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Heavy equipment, crane, construction equipment, manufacturing, industrial, transportation, or related industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Multi-location and/or multi-state workforce experience.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, OSHA, workplace investigation, or other relevant HR or safety certification/training preferred.
