Job summary

International Paper in Bedford Park, IL seeks an HR Coordinator to support managers and employees in HR-related areas. This non-exempt, salaried role reports to the Complex General Manager with dotted line to the HR Business Partner.

The position requires coordinating recruitment, onboarding, affirmative action, benefits, and payroll interfaces while maintaining accurate HR records and compliance with federal contractor requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years general administrative human resources experience.
• Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
• A high level of diplomacy, tact, and judgment as well as an upbeat and positive attitude.
• Ability to surface issues and handle sensitive and confidential information in an efficient and professional manner.
• Superior organizational skills with a high quality of accuracy and attention to detail in both written and verbal communications.
• Ability to learn new skills quickly, work and be flexible with deadlines, solve problems effectively, and handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to be proactive and self-directed while working professionally in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Oracle and Workforce strongly desired. Proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Ability to learn new software quickly.
• Prior work experience in a non-union, multi-shift manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports managers and employees at the facility in HR-related areas.
• Coordinates selection processes for hourly and salaried positions; postings, outreach, screening, assessments, onboarding.
• Maintains the Affirmative Action Planning system and annual logs; ensures federal contractor compliance.
• Makes presentations to employees and contractors on policies and work rules.
• Maintains HR files and records retention; manages I-9s.
• Tracks attendance, disciplinary actions, and prepares reports.
• Interfaces with Oracle and payroll system; codes hourly employees by job/class/shift.
• Assists with benefits, open enrollment, FMLA, disabilities, and return to work.
• Handles unemployment-related claims and supports finance tasks as needed.
• Coordinates facility events and organizes meeting materials.
