Job summary

HR Jobs in Hartford-area CT seeks an experienced HR leader to own and manage the full HR function across two CT businesses. The role is onsite with travel to Grassroots and Meineke locations in the Hartford area for onboarding and employee matters.

The position requires 5+ years of HR, strong payroll/recruiting expertise, benefits administration, and compliance. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; SHRM credentials are a plus. Competitive compensation is offered with full benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive HR experience (or equivalent).
• Hands-on payroll, recruiting, employee relations, and benefits administration.
• Working knowledge of employment compliance; multi-site experience is a plus.
• SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP / PHR / SPHR a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll administration for both businesses using Toast Payroll and Paychex; troubleshoot timecard and punch issues.
• Track PTO and employee status changes; maintain personnel records and HRIS data.
• Support wage-and-hour compliance; correct employee classification and CT and federal notices and training.
• Maintain employee policies and handbooks; audit HR files and processes.
• Own the recruiting lifecycle: postings, screening, interviews, references, background checks, offers.
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including I-9 compliance and background checks.
