Location

The NYLO NY has been renamed to Arthouse Hotel New York City. Over the past two years, the hotel has introduced artful programming and imaginative events to the Upper West Side, such as Silent Cinema nights, Flower Markets, and holiday pop-ups. Conceived as a celebration of creativity and community, the Arthouse Hotel aims to be a gathering place where guests feel at home and connected to New York culture. An exciting renovation is planned to debut late 2019, led by the award-winning firm Michaelis Boyd, known for luxury lifestyle projects including Soho House.

Overview

The Human Resources Manager assists the Director of Human Resources with various HR functions. Responsibilities include filling hourly positions promptly, ensuring accurate paperwork, enforcing company policies, and supporting benefits and workers’ compensation duties.

Responsibilities
  • Administer insurance benefits, explain coverage, assist with enrollment forms, and answer related questions.
  • Compile and distribute review and turnover reports.
  • Enter payroll information, conduct prescreening interviews, respond to unemployment claims, and maintain related logs.
  • Manage logs for new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and leaves of absence.
  • Audit payroll hours for benefit eligibility, compile wage surveys, and monitor workers’ compensation claims.
  • Answer questions about 401K, vacation, and other benefits.
  • Maintain employee logs for room nights, recruitment advertising, and employee requests.
  • Prepare recruitment advertisements and process termination paperwork.
  • Participate in HR training certification, ensure compliance with SOPs, and assist in employee orientation and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate employee events, manage transportation surveys, and maintain safety logs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience in hospitality or related industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • College coursework in related fields is helpful.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work long hours when needed.
  • Sedentary work involving lifting up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all staff and guests.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Strong multitasking and priority management skills.
  • Participate in hotel meetings, trainings, and on-duty coverage as required.
  • Maintain personal appearance and grooming standards, including wearing nametags.
  • Adhere to hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Proactively identify and solve problems, maintain confidentiality, and perform other duties as assigned.
