Job summary

BRC is seeking two motivated HR interns to support onboarding, orientation, recruitment coordination, and employee relations within a nonprofit setting in New York. The role emphasizes organization, professionalism, and interaction with new hires, staff, and candidates in a fast-paced environment.

Interns will help prepare materials, coordinate orientation sessions, assist with ID photos, and ensure proper onboarding paperwork while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with HR partners.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in HR, business, psychology, or communications preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare onboarding and orientation materials for new hires.
  • Coordinate logistics and execution of new hire orientation sessions.
  • Assist with employee photo IDs and internal systems.
  • Ensure onboarding paperwork is complete and track documentation.
  • Complete reference checks for prospective candidates.
  • Review and maintain internal Point Memo documents for HR policies.
  • Collaborate with HR Partners to validate and revise content and assist with trainings.
  • Communicate professionally with candidates, new hires, and staff.
  • Support general HR projects and maintain confidentiality.

Human Resources Support: Talent Acquisition/Onboarding/Orientation/Employee Relations

BRC isseekingtwo motivated and detail-oriented interns to support the Human Resources team with onboarding, orientation, recruitment coordination, and employee relations efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in HR operations, employee engagement, and recruitmentlogisticswithin a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

The ideal candidate is organized, professional, adaptable, and comfortable interacting with new hires, staff, and candidates in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Orientation/Onboarding:

  • Prepare onboarding and orientation materials for new hires
  • Support the coordination,logistics, and execution of new hire orientation sessions. Ensure orientation rooms, technology, and supplies are fully prepared
  • Assistwith taking employee photos for ID badges and internal systems
  • Help ensure all required onboarding paperwork and employment forms are completed accurately and on time. Track onboarding documentation and follow up on missing items.

Talent Acquisition/Recruitment:

  • Complete reference checks for prospective candidates

Employee Relations:

  • Review andmaintaininternal Point Memo documents ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current HR policies and practices
  • Cross-check memos against relevant procedures, templates, and any applicable labor laws or internal standards. Flag outdated or inconsistent memos for revision and track status updates.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and other internal stakeholders tovalidateand revise content as needed and help with Point Memo trainings.
  • Communicate professionally with candidates, new hires, and internal staff

Support general HR administrative projects and special assignments as needed

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and candidate information

Schedule and Availability:

The internship provides a flexible schedule; however, interns must be available to work on Mondays and Thursdays to support key onboarding and orientation activities.Additional hours and workdays may be scheduled flexibly in coordination with the Human Resources Team.

Qualifications
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset
  • Interest in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, or employee experience

  • Experience coordinating events, meetings, or administrative processes
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, along with comfort in communicating to external stakeholders
