Job summary

Atlas Outdoor in Flint, Michigan seeks an HR Generalist to serve as employee advocate, consultant, and partner to management. You will manage day-to-day HR functions, provide policy guidance, and support all HR activities across locations.

The role requires leading recruiting for the Detroit Region, orienting new hires, advising on performance issues, and ensuring legal compliance with OSHA, EEO, and FMLA. Travel to branches is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field or 10+ years of related work experience
• 3-5 years of related experience, landscaping or manufacturing industry experience preferred
• HR Certification preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and HCM systems
• Ability to travel to branch locations in the assigned region
• Bilingual English-Spanish strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead talent acquisition initiatives for the Detroit Region. Own the full-cycle recruiting for all locations in the region.
• Provide HR expertise to employees and managers. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
• Conduct new employee orientation and process new hire paperwork.
• Advise managers on performance management and employee relations issues. Support the documentation of performance and assist with terminations.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate the H2B program and Permanent Residence Card processes. Work closely with internal partners and outside legal counsel to ensure timely and compliant completion of required process steps.
• Comply with all legal and governmental requirements including OSHA, EEO, ADA, FMLA, and Worker’s Compensation. Advise employees and managers on laws, policies, and procedures.
• Manage Human Resources systems to ensure data integrity, provide management with proper reporting to support business objectives and strategic initiatives, and policy development.
• Provide excellent customer service to candidates, employees, and managers by advising of proper solutions.
• Plan and coordinate employee appreciation events and community service activities. Participate in community activities and build relationships with community representatives.
• Lead or participate in internal and external audits.
• Create correspondence to employees and managers as needed.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
