Job summary

TransChicago Truck Group is seeking an HR Generalist to provide broad operational support across the employee lifecycle. The role will focus on recruiting, onboarding, benefits and HRIS maintenance, starting onsite at our Elmhurst, IL dealership.

We value accuracy, teamwork and growth, requiring 2–5 years of HR experience and proficiency with HRIS and Excel. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities in a family-owned dealership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of HR experience with recruiting/onboarding, benefits, payroll or HR operations.
• Experience with an HRIS is required.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills; ability to learn new systems and data processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the recruitment workflow from candidate sourcing through the offer and onboarding.
• Coordinate pre-employment screens (background check, drug screen, MVR).
• Onboard new hires and deliver a welcoming first-day experience.
• Support recruiting events, school/community hiring campaigns and onboarding activities.
• Administer benefits enrollment, life events, and employee changes per procedures.
• Provide guidance on benefits questions and route complex issues to Benefits Specialist.
• Manage leave forms, records, deadlines, and documentation.
• Assist with open enrollment communications, logistics, and data validation.
• Maintain accurate HRIS data for hires, changes, transfers, promotions, terminations.
• Run standard HR reports (headcount, turnover, benefits, recruiting) and support audits.
• Learn payroll processes and act as a backup for payroll tasks.
