Job summary

Chestnut Group is seeking an HR Generalist in Poughkeepsie, NY to handle multi-state payroll and benefits administration. The role reports to the Director of Human Resources and supports compliance, leaves, and workers’ compensation.

The position offers a full-time schedule with a salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 annually. The company emphasizes people-first values and a growth-oriented environment for a trusted retail brand in the tri-state area.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of HR Generalist experience with multi-state payroll and benefits.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ACA, and workers' comp.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule through ADP Workforce Now.
• Review and audit payroll data for accuracy and wage/hour compliance.
• Manage payroll tax reporting, year-end W-2 processing, reconciliations, and audits.
• Prepare payroll and labor reports for Finance and leadership; resolve payroll questions promptly.
• Administer wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies and other deductions.
• Administer medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits; enrollments and open enrollment.
