Job summary

Universal Leaf Tobacco Company in Lancaster, PA seeks a Human Resources Generalist I to support payroll processing, timekeeping, leave administration, and benefits enrollment for hourly staff. You will investigate employee relations matters and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

The role requires 1–3 years HR or payroll experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, and bilingual English/Spanish.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 1-3 years of HR or payroll experience
• Experience working with HRIS systems
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
• Strong organizational, time management, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for hourly employees and ensure accuracy.
• Administer time and attendance and reconcile discrepancies.
• Manage pay changes related to promotions, transfers, and raises.
• Serve as primary contact for leave of absence programs (FMLA and personal time).
• Investigate employee relations issues and conduct disciplinary meetings as needed.
• Support benefits enrollment and open enrollment activities.
• Handle workers' compensation claims and liaise with outside parties.
• Provide documentation for audits and assist SOX compliance efforts.
